RE: Sandy, Posted 21 Oct 2008

Hi Sandy, I've just registered and realised that, in the words of a famous song (for those old enough), that 'This town (ah ah) is coming like a ghost town'. Not much happening at the health exchange so I wouldn't worry about your details...

RE: Caffeine and weight loss, Posted 3 Jul 2008

I was told in A-level P.E. that if you drink caffeine before you do cardio exercise it will aid the loss of fat. don't know how true this is but my teacher told me?

I have always resisted taking medications but now I find that I can't manage without pain-killers. Does anyone have any information about non-chemical pain relief?

RE: What do you do if you are half way through a d, Posted 19 Jun 2008

I guess my view on this is, If what you are doing is not what you want then change it, we only have one real shot at happiness, and success is not the only thing worth achieving, there is more to life than we think and happiness is something worth chasing. We have to remember though that levels of happiness differ from person to person so what I really mean is, be true to yourself to find inner peace contentment, and fulfillment

RE: I find that when I am down swimming really hel, Posted 16 Jun 2008

I agree that exercise is great when you are feeling low. It can be so hard to get going initially but I certainly feel more positive after swimming, a walk or even just achieving some of the domestic tasks I have been putting off. It helps me sleep better too.

Regular, not heavy drinking, Posted 20 May 2008

Hi, I find I have a few beers most nights after work. I don't get very drunk, but the total adds up to almost a couple of dozen a week, especially if I have a few extras over the weekend. Does anybody else do this, and what do you think about it?

Kev - when you wnat to add hyperlinks remember to use the Insert url function bottom left in the input screen. You add the link, submit, then add whatever wording you want, submit, and you are done - like this: values-exchange.com/news

Hey that's good advice. I reckon you should do ANYTHING to clear debts so that you have true independence. I think that is essential for good health.

Hi David, I did media studies and graduated last year - I found it really interesting and as you progress to the later courses you find it is applicable to quite a wide variety of industries/professions. I says, stick with it. Feel free to add me as a buddy if you want to talk more.

Being interested in other people offers you new..., Posted 3 Apr 2008

Being interested in other people offers you new ways to view yourself. I have a good friend who is currently fighting cancer. He's still surfing! I recall what the playwright Dennis Potter said in his final interview before he was finally exhausted by the disease....something like this.....I looked out of my window this morning and the blossom had arrived. It was the blossomest, blossomest, blossom I have ever seen.

You could still get in the medical/caring profession and make the most of your university course you have done so far. How about you finish through and get your doctorate? Say...a professor of philosophy?

Caffeine and weight loss, Posted 10 Mar 2008

Does anybody know what the effects of caffeine are on weight loss? I have heard conflicting points of view. This website (http://www.teeccino.com/weightloss.aspx) says caffeine increases appetite which leads to weight loss. It also aggravates stress levels which cause many people to turn to food. I'm looking through for the actual physical effects with regard to retaining weight.

Stress related, Posted 24 Feb 2008

I've had a few times in my life when I wasn't so keen on food but it is always related to exams etc or when I'm just under stress. Other people are the opposite though and say they eat MORE when they are stressed. Anybody got any other thoughts?

RE: What do you think about the Health Exchange?, Posted 14 Feb 2008

I think it could be a really good site if more people know about it. When I first entered the site I felt the sig-up link could be more obvious. Having signed up, I felt that the first page might benefit from having a simpler outline of what the site offers and what mambers can do on the site. How often would you recommend we do a health chart? Thanks, Niall.

RE: What do you think about the Health Exchange?, Posted 12 Feb 2008

I think it is a very good idea, but in order for it to be better, more people must join. The web address is quite long and hard to remember, i will easily forget it. It would be great if it was made shorter. Also there is no way of inviting strangers to become buddies. Overall very good.

RE: What do you think about the Health Exchange?, Posted 12 Feb 2008

I think the concept is great and would like to take part on a continual basis. One thing I did notice was, could an easier option of inviting other people to join be integrated into the home page, so it's there on demand and easier to find. Thanks

RE: What do you think about the Health Exchange?, Posted 12 Feb 2008

It does focus on health issues and points off concern. I would not use this site like face book as potentially sensitive information could be shared. Other sites do it a more fun way!

RE: Acne advice, Posted 12 Feb 2008

Hi I'm not middle aged, I'm in my mid twenties. but I've dealt with moderate acne (mostly non-inflammed with 4-10 inflammed spots at one time) since I was 12, and not much has worked. accept accutane but you can't stay on that forever. my dr recently gave me differin gel and it made it worse at first, but after 2 months I'm rather impressed. its removed the non-inflammed acne and controled my inflammed breakouts.

RE: NEWSNIGHT 13.12.07, Posted 16 Jan 2008

Hi Emma...crikey, a month has passed, lost in boozy christmas oblivion......no, not quite. It is about escape and a feeling of wellbeing to some extent I guess but kind of conversely it actually dulls the senses. So maybe it's more to do with filling a gap left by a loss of belief in something good, an innocence maybe, a relationship with nature? I'm thinking out loud here....

The health exchange is really interesting. I'm a young teenager and find it quite easy to navigate. I have one little criticism. Other forums, Facebook, Bebo etc only display your christian name when you're talking to other people. Maybe the Heath Exchange could do this too?
